The British Wood Flooring Company were commissioned to install wide prime grade oak floors to the entire ground floor area of this prestigious country house.
Using a stock of English Oak, in long lengths up to 5m. With underfloor heating throughout the oak was kiln dried to 7%. The boards were machined with grooves to the two long edges and stress grooves to the backs of the boards to reduce cupping over time.
The floorboards were fixed to a plywood subfloor using a flexible flooring adhesive along with countersunk screws covered with oak pellets, loose tongues were inserted to lock each floorboard to its neighbour.
When floors had been fitted they were lightly sanded before being coloured in a light oak hardwax oil and sealed with two coats of a clear, matt hardwax oil.
